Foulksrath Castle is based eight kilometers from the medieval city centre. This lovely 16th century Norman Tower House, has many medieval features, including a magnificent dining room with enormous fireplaces & a spiral staircase to upper floors.

Ghost Hunters have in the past visited the hostel and reported that it is the best place in Ireland to hear ghostly noises. Stories say the daughter of the original owner was killed, resulting in the belief that the castle may be haunted.

It is the ideal place to stay for a few days while you explore the many nearby places of interest, including heritage sites dating from the Iron Age through to the present.

Check in time at Foulksrath Castle youth hostel is strictly after 5pm and check out is 10am. The hostel is closed to guests between 10am and 5pm.
